January 2009

Jan 5 - Business Meeting, St Andrews, 7:30-9:00, uniform, Dues $5,
Jan 9-11 - Wellington Area Venturee Extravaganza (WAVE), Barber Scout Camp, Guelph, ON. $40. Sleep in tents outdoors. Participants: Rebecca, John, Sean, Joe, Donovan, Megan, Ryan, Aditya, Chris.
Jan 12 - Program night, guest Bernie Loken, Akela, 7:30-9:00, discuss and plan aspects of Cub Linking camp in Feb.
Jan 19 - Laser Extreme, ($10.50 for 2 games), 44 Bond St E, Oshawa. Invite a guest. Meet at 7, pick up at 9.
Jan 23-28 - (Exams)
Jan 26 - Risk Game competition, St Andrews, 7:00-9:00. (Joe to bring game.)

February 2009

Feb 2 - Business Meeting, St Andrews, 7:30-9:00, uniform, Dues $5,
Feb 6-8 - Link Camp with Cubs, Cubland, Camp Samac. Run activities, crafts etc for the Cubs. Community Service Hours and credit toward Queens Venturer Award in the leadership. No charge. Ben, Joe, John, Rebecca, Aditya, Megan. Katrina volunteered for crafts and cooking. Present Canadarm talk and to lead a night hike, Joe will do the Space shuttle talk, John will build a campfire, and all the youth will lead the songs etc.
Feb 9 - Program night, will include another bash at the by-laws, planning banquet, etc. St Andrew's, 7:30-9:00
Feb 16 - (Family Day)
Feb 17 - Kub Kar Races at Iroquois Park 6:30 - 9:00. John, Ryan, Andrew, Sean, (Katrina).
Feb 22 - Baden Powell Banquet, St Andrew's. Link to reservation form. Prepare meal for participants. Set up 3:00pm, Banquet 5:00 pm. Organizing committee: Andrew, Joe, John, Katrina.
Feb 23 - Tobogganing at Paulyn Park in Ajax. 7:30-9.:00pm
Feb 27-Mar 1 - Haliburton Adventure Base Retreat, Cheeman Cabin, Adventure Base, Haliburton, ON. $35. Relax, enjoy the snow, play cards, read or whatever. Joe, John, Andrew, Aditya, Chad, Cameron, Katrina, Ben, Renate, Brian, Rebecca, Sean. Meet at Brian's at 5:00 pm. Travel time is 2.5 hours. Remember we are in a cabin (heated and electric lights) but there is a 30 minute walk in the bush to get from the parking area. Pack well and bring winter clothing! It is colder up north.

Mar 23 - WhirlyBall in Bumper Cars at track, 65 Orfus Rd. Toronto (near Yorkdale Shopping Centre.) $20 each for an hour on-court. Meet at St. Andrews 6:15-9:15 pm.
Mar 30 - Dodge Ball at Colonel JE Farewell PS, 810 McQuay Boulevard, Whitby. 6:10-7:50 pm.
Mar 30 - Scoutrees Canvassing pledge sheet available.

April 2009

Apr 4 - Road Clean Up, meet at Pizza Pizza, Brock st north of Dryden, 10-11:30 am. Bring gloves, wear boots. Joe, Renate.
Apr 6 - Monty Python Marathon, John's basement, 6:00-10:00.
Apr 13 - (Easter Monday)
Apr 17-19 - W.H.A.T. Camp Guelph. $30 Megan, Katrina, Rebecca, Aditya, Ryan, Donovan, John, Sean, Joe, Renate, Brian
Apr 20 - Personal Activities Presentations by Aditya, Andrew and Joe, St Andrew's, 7:30-9:00
Apr 22 - Going Up & Campfire, Camp Samac at Kitchie Lodge area. 6:00pm
Apr 24-26 - (All Sections Camp at Ganaraska Forest, offer of service: Joe.
Apr 27 - Rock Climbing at Rock Oasis, Ajax Community Centre. $20 each includes the instruction, harness rental, and 1 instructor to 4 climber ratio. 7-9 pm.

May 2009

May 2 - Scoutrees Planting Day, 9-11am, north end of D'Hilliar Park accessible from Bonacord Ave east of McQuay Blvd.
May 2 & 3 - Campkins BBQ, 11am-2pm, accept donations for all supplied hot dog, pop, etc. Renate & Chris, Brian & Bernard
May 4 - Pellet Shoot, Camp Samac Range, 7:00-9:00, $5
May 11 - Dodgeball Tournament, Hosted by 2nd Ajax Venturers & Rovers, Bernadette's Catholic School, 41 Bayly Ave E, Ajax (in the gym, front doors). Prizes for best looking team outfits, 7:00-9:00

Jun 26 - National Canoe Day - Canoe-Be-Que (BBQ) at 7:00 pm at Camp Samac pond. $0 From 4:00 pm to dusk. Please bring your own canoe, PFD’s (must be worn), paddles (including one extra per canoe) and a throwbag.

July 2009

Jul 6 - Spoons, Camp Samac north field, 7-9. Bring refreshments. Bring a guest.
Jul 12 - St Petersburg 100th Anniversary Russian Jamboree, Novgorod, Russia Information Flyer (PDF). $2250 each. Venture to the land of "White Nights" to experience an incredible culture locked away from the western world for decades. Be hosted by a Finnish family to experience first hand how they live in Helsinki, land of reindeer and sauna. Then travel south across the Bay of Finland to explore the well restored medieval centre of Tallinn Estonia. Visit the wonders of the Russian old Capital City St. Petersburg. Camp with Scouts from Kazikstan and Estonia. Before leaving Russia, visit the ancient capital Novgorod for a taste of 1000 years of history. Housing in St Petersburg will be St. Mikhail Protestant Church. (Brian, Renate, Donovan, Megan, Ryan, Andrew, Adytia, John, Chris, Charlie)
July 12 - Finnair Departure T3, 5:55 pm.
July 13 - Arrive Helsinki 9:00 am, AY 2416. Transfer to home of Mikko Lamminpaa in Tuusula (near the airport). Rest and afternoon orientation in Helsinki or weather permitting, sauna and introduction to Finnish food. Housing in cabin on the property, need sleeping bag and mats.
July 14 - Helsinki Day 8:00 am bus to the centre. Market Square & Hall, ferry to castle Suomalinna. Evening on your own.
July 15 - Ferry to Tallinn 4:00 pm CAT from Helsinki terminal to Estonia. Check into Hotel Metropol. Explore the Old Town. Evening on your own.
July 16 - Tallinn Day 8:00 am sauna & buffet breakfast. Evening on your own. Depart 11:00 pm on overnight Coach to St Petersburg.
July 17 - St Petersburg 8:00 am arrival by bus to the centre. Stow gear at St Mikhail's Protestant Church. Rest and prepare for the day. Explore Nevskya Prospect, etc.
July 18 - St Petersburg The Hermitage Winter Palace and art collection.
July 20 - Depart to Jamboree site by bus to Novogord area south of St Petersburg. Set up camp. Buy food. Prepare for week's activities.
July 21-28 - Jamboree Program
July 28 - Novgorod Tourism, return to St Petersburg in late evening.
July 29 - St Petersburg final day to clean up and explore.
July 30 - Depart at 12:35 pm AY 166 from St Petersburg airport via Helsinki to Toronto T3 arriving at 3:55 pm, AY 2413.

August 2009

Aug 3 - Czech Hosting Meeting final plans, both youth & adults involved, St Andrews, 7:30-9:00.
Aug 6 - Czech Scouts arrive at Toronto T3 4:15 pm and meet host families. Transfer to Camp Samac for 3 nights.
Aug 7 - Belleville Scout Museum, Trenton Airfore Museum & BBQ hosted by curator.
Aug 8 - Morning: Archery or pellets. Oshawa Jazz Festival downtown Oshawa. Evening arrival party at O'Grady's.
Aug 9-11 - Cyprus Lake National Park and Tobermory/Bruce Trail exploration weekend.
Aug 11 - afternoon visit to Ste. Marie Among the Hurons, Midland.
Aug 11-19 - Home Hospitality. (O'Gradys have offered Tues-Fri for all.) Families escort Czech youth to Toronto sites, Bowmanville Zoo, ROM, Niagara Falls, Ontario Science Centre, Shopping, swimming at Lakeview Park, etc.
Aug 12-19 - Ester, Boba, Libor travel to Gibson's BC 7 am flight returning on the 19th at 6:30 am.
Aug 19-22 - Haliburton Adventure Base - chill out.
Aug 23 - morning packing, afternoon farewell party at Wayne Seddon's. 6 pm departure to airport for flight at 10:23 pm.
Aug 31 - Business Meeting, St Andrews, 7:30-9:00, uniform, Dues $5.

September 2009
