January 2008

Jan 7 - Business Meeting, St Andrews, 7:30-9:00, uniform, Dues $5
Jan 14 - Group Dinner at Imperial Buffet, Ajax. $22. 6-8.
Jan 21 - (study week)
Jan 23-30 - Exams (DDSB 23-29) (DCDSB 24-30)
Jan 28 - Tobogganing if weather permits.

February 2008

Feb 1-3 - Retreat in Haliburton, cabin camp at Adventure Base - Cheeman (sleeps 12). Cabin is equipped with wood stove, electric lights.
Feb 4 - Business Meeting, St Andrews, 7:30-9:00, uniform, Dues $5
Feb 11 - Ski/Snowboard at Skyloft Ski Club, 722 Chalk Lake Rd. W. Uxbridge. Meet at 6 pm in the clubhouse. Two hour lift ticket $30, rentals $20. Pick up at 9 pm. (Molly, Ben, Ryan, Andrew, Donovan, John, Aidan, Megan.)
Feb 15 (Fri) - (DDSB & DCDSB PA Day)
Feb 18 - Bowling at Leisure Lanes 7-9:15, $10
Feb 24 - Baden Powell Banquet, St Andrew's Church hall. Set up 3:30. (Dinner at 5.) Finish at 7:30 pm. The Rovers and Venturers are organizing and running this event again. Please bring you own dishes.

March 2008

Mar 3 - Business Meeting, St Andrews, 7:30-9:00, uniform, Dues $5
Mar 16 (Sun)- Mini Indy Go Carts at 401 & Dixon Rd $21. It takes about 15 minutes for 20 laps on the Junior racer. (Pro-kart racer requires a valid driver's licence.) Depart 6:00 returning at 9:00. (track closes at 8pm.)
Mar 17 - Air Hockey Night, Renate's, 5 Chadwick Dr. Ajax 7-9, bring munchies.
Mar 24 - no meeting - Easter Monday
Mar 28-30 - Reunion Camp, Camp Samac Oshawa, cabin 1, arrival after dinner Friday. Indoor accommodation $30.00 + $10 Suvival skills course fee. Spoons, Stars by Keith, etc. Invitational to previous attendees at Focus 2006. Participants may also attend following Wilderness Survival course. (Andrew, Katrina, Ben, Molly, Ryan, Megan, Donovan, Chris, Renate, Brian, Keith, John, Aditya, David. 115th Toronto - 10 youth, 2 leaders.) No mushrooms or hazelnuts.
Mar 29 - Wilderness Survival Techniques Course, Camp Samac, 9-4. $10.00. (Included in above camp fee.) This is the perfect course for Venturers who want to gain experience around the challenging topic of surviving in the bush. This material in this course is also great for practicing building a fire with wet material, building a shelter to sleep out over night, making your own pot, cup, bowl from things found in nature.... and lots more. Complete the following registration form.

April 2008

Apr 5 - Road Clean Up, meet in Shopper's Drugs plaza at 3500 Brock St N at Whitburn St. 10-11am. Bring garden gloves. Pizza to follow. (Katrina, Aditya, Ryan, John, Andrew, Ben, Megan, Molly)
Apr 7 - Business Meeting, St Andrews, 7:30-9:00, uniform, Dues $5
Apr 12 - 3rd Annual Open Archery Shoot, Camp Samac range. Teams of 3. 2:00pm. $3 per archer. (Ryan, Megan, Donovan) More spaces available!
Apr 14 - Whitby Public Library, 7:30-9:00, meet at Whitby's first fire engine in lobby. Research Moosonee/Moose Factory to plan for Amory Adventure in August 2008. Return Scoutrees canvassing form & money.
Apr 19 - Scoutrees Planting Day, meet at designated planting location (Crawforth St. east of Kathleen St.) 10-11am. Bring garden gloves, spade, pail. Refreshments include hot dogs, Timbits, hot beverages.
Apr 21 - Dodge Ball at Williamsburg PS. 6:10-7:50, Keith to bring balls. (Contingency plan to go to Rocket park next door.)
Apr 23 (Wed) - Going Up Ceremony & BBQ, Kitchi Lodge, Camp Samac, Oshawa. 6:30-8:00. Bring a lawn chair and camp blanket.
Apr 28 - Soccer activity at play field on the corner of Medland Ave. and Splendor Dr., with new Venturers. 6-8pm. Russia deposit due $200.

May 2008

May 4 (Sun) - Exchange committee meeting at Coffee Time, Rossland and Garden Sts. 7:00-8:30 (Andrew, David, Ben, Ryan)
May 5 - Business Meeting, St Andrews, 7:30-9:00, uniform, Dues $5
May 12 - Street Hockey, 9 Gerrie Crt, Whitby 6-8pm. Bring hockey gear, sticks, pucks, etc.
May 16 (Fri) - (DDSB PA Day)
May 19 - No meeting - Victoria Day
May 26 - Imperial Buffet, 163 Harwood Ave North, Ajax. 6-8pm, $20 inclusive. Deposit due for Elora Gorge Camp

June 2008

Jun 6-8 - Soap Box Derby Camp, Camp Samac. (Under canvass.) $0.00. Arrival at Samac north parking and proceed to "Lakeland South" campsite just east of Cabin #4, at 8:00 pm, pick up Saturday at 4 or earlier. (Megan, John, Andrew, Ryan, Joe)
Jun 9 - Rock Climbing at Ajax Community Centre, 7-9 (Megan, John, Katrina, Andrew, Ryan, David, Joe)

Jun 30 - Postponed to another date. Flour Bomb War, Pirate's Park on Bayly west of Brock Rd, Pickering. Bring pre-fabricated flour bombs (1/2 cup ea.) and water guns.

July 2008

Oct 17-19 - JOTA Jamboree on the Air weekend Camp, Mosport Raceway, Bowmanville, ON. $22.
Meet at Mosport Park at 7:30 pm to set up. Departure Sunday at noon. We will be running the Tuck Shop for the camp Sat 10am-10pm Rebecca, Katrina, Megan, John, Andrew, Chris, Ben, Aditya, Joe, Chad.
Oct 20 - Program night, St Andrew's, 7:30-9:00. Begin bylaws review. Individual tracking for Queen's Venturer Award log.
Oct 24 - Halloween Haunt Canada's Wonderland. Depart from Tim Hortons, Dundas St W (near Cochrane) 6:30 pm, return at Midnight. $33.30 if you buy ahead on the website. (Cheaper for season ticket holders.)
Oct 25 - Apple Day canvassing Sat 10:00-6:00, L.C.B.O. Gilbert St. 4x 2 hour shifts. Wear your necker.
Oct 27 - Halloween Party, Ben's, Old black and white scary movies to be shown. Please bring snacks, pop, chips etc.

November 2008

Dec 5-7 - Focus Youth Leadership Workshop, Cubland, Camp Samac, Oshawa, ON. $32. It is our turn to host and teach the course so pick a module and let me know what you will do. Participants: Chad, John, Joe, Andrew, Ryan, Megan, Katrina, Donovan
Dec 8 - Potlatch and Risk Tournament at Renate's, 6:30-9:00. Bring a dinner entre, vegetable or dessert.
Dec 15 - Christmas Party (O'Grady's, 103 Gartshore Dr.) 7-9, Secret Santa gift $10-20. Bring Christmas goodies.
Dec 22 - X-Box 360 8-party competition at Andrew's.
